If you're here, you're probably about to pay a lot of money for something with four wheels. Before you do, see if any of these doubts is yours.

General

The most asked by people who arrive for the first time.

Does Druveo sell cars?

No. Druveo is a trust layer between buyer and seller: we verify identity, inspect the car, hold the funds in escrow and manage the title transfer. We never own any car.

This keeps us neutral on every deal. We have no incentive to close bad sales.

Which countries does Druveo operate in?

El Salvador only in Phase 1. The private beta launches in Q3 2026 in the San Salvador metro area, expanding to Santa Tecla, Santa Ana and San Miguel during the first year. Guatemala, Honduras and Costa Rica from 2027 onward.

How much does Druveo cost?

A standalone inspection costs $129 USD. The full transaction (inspection + escrow + contract + VMT title transfer) charges 0.9% of the final price, with a minimum of $189 USD. Buyer and seller split that fee 50/50 unless otherwise agreed. More detail on the pricing page.

What kind of cars qualify?

Used cars with a market value between $8,000 and $80,000. This includes:

  • Mainstream sedans and SUVs (Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia…)
  • Pickups and 4×4 (Hilux, Tacoma, 4Runner, Frontier, Montero, Land Cruiser Prado)
  • Imports with a traceable VIN

We do not cover motorcycles, heavy cargo or cars without a legible VIN for now.

Do I need an account to use it?

Yes. Given the nature of the operation (KYC, escrow, electronic signature) a verified account is mandatory. Sign-up takes 4-6 minutes.

Can I cancel an operation halfway through?

Yes, until the moment the contract is signed. If you cancel after the inspection but before signing, you lose the $129 USD of the inspection already performed. If you cancel after signing, standard contractual breach rules apply.

What happens if the car has a problem after I buy it?

Every full operation includes 30 days of Druveo warranty. If within that window a defect appears that was not reflected in the inspection report, we open a case and take charge (covered repair, partial refund or full reversal). More detail in Trust & Safety.

Does Druveo work with dealerships?

Yes, with a dedicated Professional plan: API, multi-user dashboard, volume-tiered commission and a dedicated inspector per zone. Contact sales.

Inspection

What does the 152-point inspection include?

Four blocks:

  • Mechanical (64 pts): engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, exhaust, 20 km road test.
  • Body (38 pts): thickness measurement on each panel, weld detection, paint and impact assessment.
  • Electronics (28 pts): full ECU read, battery health (12V and traction), ADAS, connectivity.
  • Documentary (22 pts): physical VIN against the VMT registry, mileage history, current vehicle inspection, liens, seizures and reported accidents.
Who performs the inspection?

An independent inspector accredited by Druveo. They are not Druveo employees: they pass an admission process, keep their business separate and sign each report under their professional liability. You can see the profile of the assigned inspector before confirming the appointment.

Where is it done?

The inspector travels to the car location or to a point agreed between the parties (workshop, well-lit public parking, etc.). A travel surcharge applies for radii > 25 km from the city center.

How long does it take?

Between 1 h 30 min and 2 h 15 min depending on the condition of the car and the findings. The report will be available in your account between 2 and 6 hours later.

What if the inspection detects something serious?

Three possible scenarios:

  • Minor findings: the report lists them, you decide whether to continue.
  • Significant findings: the report proposes a price adjustment. You negotiate directly with the seller.
  • Blocker (fraud, tampered mileage, hidden serious accident): Druveo blocks the operation. You get the deposit back in full.

Payments and escrow

Where does my money sit until the operation closes?

In a segregated account operated by a regulated bank in El Salvador. It is not a Druveo account, it is a fiduciary account in your name within the partner bank infrastructure. Druveo cannot move the funds outside contractual milestones.

What payment methods do you accept?

SV bank transfer (ACH BAC, Agrícola, Cuscatlán) for the main operation and the deposit. For the Druveo fee we also accept credit/debit card and Wompi. We do not accept cash or cashier checks without prior verification.

When does the seller get paid?

72 hours after the buyer confirms delivery. If 72 h pass without objection, the system releases the payment automatically. If a case is opened, the funds stay on hold until resolution.

And if the money has to be refunded?

The refund to the buyer is automatic and runs in 1-3 business days. Only services actually rendered are deducted (inspection, paperwork if applicable).

Title transfer

Who handles the title transfer?

Druveo, with paperwork included in the full plan. We work with a legal partner before the VMT (Vice-Ministry of Transport of El Salvador). The new circulation card in your name usually arrives in 5-7 business days.

And if there are liens or seizures?

The documentary inspection detects liens, reservations of title and seizures before paying. If they appear, the operation is paused and the seller has to resolve them. Druveo never releases funds on a car with active liens.
